When you send an email from Accelo, it's sent on behalf of you and your email address. That's different from how your emails are sent normally from your phone or email account, because Accelo's doing the sending instead of your email provider. This allows Accelo to offer helpful tools like Email Event Tracking. The distinction between these senders is important because while the emails you send from Accelo will look and behave normally for your clients, organizations which enforce a high level of email security (known as DMARC) can mistakenly mark these emails as spam! To prevent this from occurring, you'll need to authorize Accelo to send these emails on your behalf.
DMARC security requires setting up two separate authentication methods:
Accelo recommends setting up both SPF and DKIM authentication to make your emails fully DMARC compliant, and ensure that your emails are sent successfully. Please note that full DMARC compliance is required for many major email service providers, including Google / Gmail.
SPF is an email authentication method designed to detect forged emails which are claiming to have been sent by you. It allows the recipients of your emails to confirm that an email was actually sent by you by checking whether you've authorized the server that sent it.
To add SPF authentication to your Accelo account, you'll need to add a record to your domain's DNS records for SPF. This record will identify Accelo as an authorized sender of your email.
If you don't have an SPF record already, then you'll need to create one. The new SPF record should look like this:
v=spf1 include:_spf.accelo.com ~all
If you already have an SPF record, then you'll just need to add Accelo to it. Here's what you'll be adding:
include:_spf.accelo.com
For more information on how to find and update your SPF record, check out Google's SPF Guide and Microsoft's SPF Guide or check with your domain host.
DKIM is an email authentication method designed to detect forged emails which are claiming to have been sent by you. It does this by including a digital signature, linked to your domain, in every outgoing email. When your client receives your email, their server can compare the email's digital signature to what you've published in your domain's DNS records to confirm that they match.
To add DKIM authentication to your Accelo account, you'll need to add several new entries to your domain's DNS records to publish your digital signature. Each signature is unique, so you'll need to request your unique keys from Accelo. Reach out to us at support@accelo.com or fill out this simple form:
